The accompanying Com Memorandum from Major Th. R. Sharp, Special Agent of the Government, refers to a
subject which we regard of much importance to the Confederacy at that
time. The scrap Rails could now be used by us in the manufacture of
work for the Government which may be delayed in consequence of our
inability to obtain the necessary raw materials and in the present
emergency we are willing to take the materials on the terms stated by
Major Sharp say at Thirty five Dollars per ton of 2240 pounds
delivered at the Depot of the Virginia Central Rail Road Company in
this city. |
