The iron we purchased from you
and which was to have come via Knoxville is being received via
Wilmington, at an increased cost of Ten dollars per ton. If your agent
had taken Bills Lading & stipulated the Route it would have thrown
this cost on the Rail Roads, as it is it is a charge on the metal, and
we submit for your consideration whither you ought not to pay a
portion of the loss on so much as took that route prior to the burning
of the Bridges on the Western route. |
Today we have a dispatch ???
owning that 10 car loads {80 tons} were
at Chattanooga & inquiring it it could be shipped via Augusta. We
have inquired what might be the cost of storage in Chattanooga as in
the event it is trifling it will be our intent to keep the iron there
until the Western Route is opened. ????? |
