The President reported the proceedings of
several meetings of the officers of the rail roads in this and other
Southern States in relation to the rates of tolls and fares to b e
charged the Confederate States and the payment therefor in the
Business of the Confederate States. |
Whereupon on motion of Col. Munford it was
"Resolved That this Company agree to the terms for transportation
for the Confederate States agreed on by the other rail roads in those
States, and will transport for the Confederate States troops at
the rate of two cents per mile per capita and all articles of freight
at half the rates of tolls charged to other persons; such
Transportation to be paid for so far as the necessities of the
Government may require it, in the notes and Bonds of the Confederate
States." |
On this resolution Messr Munford, Caskie,
Haxall & Daniel voted, aye. Messr Meyers and Mills voted, no. |
