The President also stated that the
necessities of the Railroads in the Confederate States, in the matter
of materials for repairs & equipment had induced a conference of
the Presidents of the Railroads in the State of Va, who upon
consultation as to the best means to be adopted for supplying their
wants, determined to call a Convention of all the Railroads in the
Southern Confederacy which Convention had been held, & the results
of whose labors he submitted in printed form. This Convention having
divided the Railroads in the Confederacy into districts, and a
Convention of the officers of the Roads of the district to which this
Company was assigned having been called to meet in a few days, the
President desired to be instructed as to the line of policy he should
adopt. |
Whereupon it was Resolved that the
President of the Company be instructed to adhere to the policy
indicated in the resolutions of the Committee of the previous meeting
made to the Convention and referred to in their proceedings. |
