{From the minutes of the
Directors' Meeting of the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR,
December 24, 1861} |
|
At a meeting of the Board of Directors held at the
office of the Company on the 24th December 1861 |
P. V. Daniel Jr President |
G. W. Mumford, G. A. Myers, Chs S. Mills,
R. W. Haxall and Jno. O. Stegar Directors |
The President submitted to the
consideration of the Board the difficulties attending the remittance
to England of the interest due there on the Sterling Bonds of the
Company, resulting from the existing War and blockade, which had
hitherto prevented that remittance. Whereupon |
On motion it was proposed and determined
to send to Charleston, S. C. for the purpose of purchasing and
forwarding to England a bill of Exchange for the purpose of paying
that interest. |
The President also brought to the
consideration of the Board the subject of the proposed Rail Road
Connection between this Company's Road and the Manassas Gap Rail Road. |
Whereupon he was instructed to endeavor to
procure the enactment by the Virginia Legislature of such a law as
would best conduce to the construction of that connection, and it may
be practicable to obtain, the act of assembly paper on the 13th of
February 1856 without the last two priorities to its 2nd section being
indicated as the basis of such proposed enactment. |
