{From the minutes of the
Directors' Meeting of the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR,
November 15, 1862} |
|
At a meeting of the Board of Directors held at the
office of the Company Nov 15th 1862 |
Mr. Wurt Robinson the Director on the part
of the State, presented a letter from the Board of Public Works,
enquiring as to how far the Road was prepared to meet the requirements
of a resolution of the General Assembly requiring the different Rail
Road Companies terminating in the Cities of Richmond & Petersburg
to furnish a sufficient number of wood cars for the transportation of
wood into the said cities, to supply the demand for the same, and that
the same be transported to the cities at a reasonable rate of toll. |
Mr. Robinson was instructed by the Board
to state in reply to the Board of Public Works that this Company has a
much larger number of wood cars than any other Road terminating in
this city, and that these cars are not only now but have been for some
time past consistently employed in the transportation of wood to this
city and that the tolls charged is less than that charged on other
merchandize. |
