The President stated to the Board that he
had called them together for the purpose of advising what course
should be adopted in the present emergency & recommended the
removal of the specie & other effects of the Bank via Thomasville
and also the Bacon belonging to the Road. On motion it was resolved
that the recommendation of the President be immediately carried into
effect, retaining at Savannah $300,000 in currency $300,000 Gold $1000
in Silver & the discounted paper maturing. |
