Rome RR} |

Dear Sir, |
Your letter of the 1st Inst. To
Mr. Walter is before me. I am willing to continue the same contract in
1862 that was in force for 1861. |
To wit “W&A RRd will allow its cars to run over the Rome
RRd to ??? best of its ability and without ??? to its own instruct for
the year 1862. |
For
a rentage of $1200 Twelve Hundred Dollars; cars not to be detained over
a reasonable time for unloading & loading. Charges in a/c by monthly
installments. But for the future after 1862 I suggest that compensation
be made in the way of purposing building exchanged for transportation at
Kingston as it will have to be done when Rails waus are extended beyond
Rome, and a gradual preparation should not be necessary . |
This contract or agreement to be abrogated by
either party on giving ten days notice. |
Very
respectfully yours |
John S. Rowland |
