Know all men by these presents that we,
Frederick W. Sims, First Lieutenant commanding, and Benjamin T. Cole
Jr and James Lacklison subaltern officers of the Volunteer Corps of
the, Company B. Oglethorpe Light Infantry, in said county, do hereby
acknowledge ourselves held and firmly bound unto his excellency Joseph
E. Brown Governor and commander-in-chief of the army and navy of this
State, and the Militia thereof and his successors in office for the
time being, in the just and full sum of One Thousand Dollars, for the
payment of which we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and
administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents, Sealed
with our Seals and dated this the Tenth day of July 1861. |
The condition of the above bond or
obligation is such, that whereas the above bound Frederick W. Sims has
made his requisition on the Governor and Commander-in-chief, for arms
and appendages, and whereas the Said arms and appendages have been
delivered by order of the Governor and Commander-in-chief &c from
the arsenal in Savannah and received by the said Frederick W. Sims,
first lieutenant as aforesaid for the use of said corps: Now if the
said arms and appendages shall be well and safely kept without injury,
during the existence of the corps, and on the dissolution thereof
shall be returned in good order to either of the arsenals in the
cities of Savannah or Milledgeville, ordinary wear and tear and
expenditure un service alone excepted, and the commanding officer of
said corps shall annually report to the Governor the number and State
of Said arms and appendages, in pursuance of the 3rd Section of an Act
of the Legislature of said State, Entitled "An Act to authorise
his excellency the Governor to furnish arms and accoutrements to
volunteer corps in the State, approved Dec. 8th 1845;" then this
bond to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. |
