Hon James A. Seddon |
Secretary of War |
Richmond Va |
|
In view of the fact said to be
presented to you in petition of citizens of Escambia County, I ask that
the iron shall not be removed from the Ala & Fla Rail Road of Florida
above Bluff Spring and that an order be at once issued by telegraph to
the proper officer to that effect. |
I cannot perceive why the iron
should be removed from the Alabama & Fla Rail Road which is a part of
our State system, and which is necessary to the defence of that part of
Florida the subsistence and safety of our citizens, and taken from the
State against the protest of the Rail Road Company and our Senators and
Representatives in Congress and yet the iron on parts of the Florida
Rail Road which is necessary to the defence of the State shall not be
used for the purpose while a??ed by State authority and the officer in
command of this Military department. |
Respectfully |
John Milton |
Governor of Florida |
