Tallahassee Decr. 31st 1861 |
|
Honble J. Wayles Baker |
|
Dear Sir, |
***** |
With regard to the rail road
improvements necessary to the transportation of troops arms & munitions
of War for the defence of the State my opinion is in favor of the road
being built between Quincy & Chattahoochee to connect communication with
all parts of the State East of Chattahoochee river. |
Large bodies of troops could
be more readily thrown into any part of Middle, East, or South Florida
by the continuance of the road to the river than by the accomplishment
of the connection of the roads as proposed by resolution of the General
Assembly and would extend the road so much farther in its destined
progress to Pensacola. |

Very Respectfully Your friend |
