The Transportation Quarter
Master books only show about 350 wagon loads Government freight hauled
from Mayfield since Jany 1st. Please send an officer to inspect the line
from Midway to Mayfield {the route of the
partially completed Milledgeville RR, about 20 miles}, the
supplies are ready here and are forwarded promptly to Mayfield, whenever
the Quarter Master notifies he can move. |
Loaded cars now stand there and here. I
have directed that supplies still be pushed Eastward -- Major Moses
ordering to the contrary. Obedience to my orders from Bureau officers
must be enforced, or my duties limited to regulating the use of supplies
when forwarded. I shall be in Augusta in 10 days,. |
Please send copy to Genl
Beauregard. |
