   Troops ordered East have gone except Sharps & Brantley's Brigades.
   Soldiers furloughed at Corinth & Tupelo come in very slowly. West Tenn soldiers going to Paducah Ky & taking oath of allegiance to Federal Gen. Commanding furlough by organizations most detrimental want of money seriously difficulty in Department Troops & Citizens demoralized and unwilling to trust Government. Any attempts to proceed as ordered will prove signal failure within 30 days. Enemy converging Mobile objective point. Enemy can invest place as recent branch reorganizing Cavalry. St??ters corps landed at Memphis on 10th Woods (14th) in ??? River valley & being mounted. If enemy to use considerable force in this direction, country this side of Tombigbee must be abandoned & must involve loss of rolling stocks on R. R. west of that River as there are no bridges over it
