Dear Sir, |
His Excellency Gov. Vance has
received a communication from Commander Lynch asking permission to
exchange the railroad iron which he is to receive from your road, with
the Petersburg railroad, as iron is needed for immediate use in
completing a gunboat now building on Roanoke River. His Excellency
Gov. Vance is exceedingly anxious that the boat shall be speedily
completed and has consented to this exchange for the purpose indicated
and he requests that you will at the earliest possible moment deliver
such quantities of iron as you can to Commander Lynch. |
With sentiments of great respect |
Your obedient Servant |
David A. Barnes |
Aide de Camp to the Governor |
