| His Excellency Governor Vance
has received your letter stating that he had the control of a quantity
of rail road iron and asking his consent to have the same rolled into
plate to be used upon Boats now being built in this State. |
| His Excellency presumes that
your informant Commander Cook alludes to the iron of the Atlantic Road
{the Atlantic & North Carolina RR},
the state is but a Stockholder in the road a large portion belonging
to private individuals. A meeting of the directors of the Company has
been called and your proposition will be submitted to them. Their
decision will be made known to you. |
