At a called meeting of the
Council of the City of Richmond held the 14th day of June 1862. |

Present: David J. Saunders, Esquire,
President. Messrs. Glazebrook, Crutchfield, Scott, Talbott, Wynne,
Griffin, Eppes, Haskins, Hill, and Grattan. |

The reading of the proceedings
of the last meeting being dispensed with, the President stated the
object of the present call; and the Reverend Dr. J. B. Jeter being
present, on motion of Mr. Hill, he was allowed to address the meeting
on the subject. |
Dr. Jeter proceeded to address
the meeting, and in conclusion submitted for the consideration of the
Council a play for supplying the City with provisions. |
Mr. Hill, thereupon, submitted
the following resolution which was adopted by the Council: |
Resolved, That the
communication of Dr. Jeter be received and approved, and that a
committee of six members of the Council and five citizens be appointed
to carry out the object. |
