December 1861. The destruction of tracks
between Harper's Ferry and Back Creek, removal of rails, cross-ties,
track fixtures, &c, continued; four miles were removed after date
of last Chronological table, making a total of 40 miles, 2,261 feet of
track torn up, and the iron for nearly thirty-seven miles taken away. |

The 14 locomotives and
tenders taken by the enemy prior to September 30, 1861, were entirely
lost to the Company. 29 of the locomotives and tenders burned were
repaired, while the others awaited repairs at the close of the fiscal
year. |
