Investigating Committee Report |

Memphis October 7, 1861 |
|
Mr. Jas. P. Wood, President |
|
Dear Sir, |
Having been appointed one of the Committee by the Board
of Directors to examine the books of your Treasurer, beg leave to
report that, owing to the absence of Mr. Williams from the city I
have made the examination alone. |
I first examined the receipts
from all the various sources for each month from October 1860, up to
September 1, 1861. I then examined the vouchers for moneys paid out and
it affords me much pleasure to say that I found them correct in every
instance. |
I was much pleased with the very systematic plan adopted
by Mr Tomeny in the keeping of his books, and think if the same care
and attention to the interests of the Company are exercised by each
of your appointees, the Stockholders will have no cause to complain
of the management of the Road. |
Very Respectfully, |
A. Woodruff, of the Committee |
