President's Report |
Central Railroad and Banking Co. of Ga. |
Savannah, Dec. 1st, 1865 |
|
To the Stockholders of the Central Railroad and Banking Company
|
|
Gentlemen, |
In consequence of the absence of your President, Wm. B.
Johnston, Esq., on the business of the Company at the North, it
becomes my duty to submit for your consideration, the Report of the
Superintendent, which is clear and full, showing the complete
destruction of your Road from Gordon to Savannah, by Gen. Sherman's
Army, as well as the injury done to the Branches, and what is now
being done towards its restoration.
|
Since our last Report, the
hand of God has been laid heavily upon us, and our beloved President,
R. R. Cuyler, has been removed by death. His place can never be
filled, and we now emphatically feel, in this, our trying time, how
great has been our loss. |
Respectfully submitted |
John W. Anderson
