Dear Sir,

I
arrived here at two o’clock yesterday morning spent the day
yesterday at the salt works found that Capt Sneed had sent off two car
loads one to Gadsden &
one to Jackson County there is great difficulty in getting shipment
over the rail road to Bristol {Virginia &
Tennessee RR} thirty eight miles impracticable if not
impossible to get any quantity any otherwise I will go to Knoxville
Tenn in short time & make an effort to get a train I have promise
that there shall be no delay beyond Bristol Contractors ready to
deliver what of Hardwick & Small pox in Montgomery
