Have sent a State Agent to New Iberia Louisiana to buy
rock salt for Alabama. Will you aid me in transportation by
instructing Confederate officers not to interrupt our boats and to
give us right of transit by land and water {most
likely route: steamboat to Vicksburg, Southern RR to Meridian, Mobile
& Ohio RR to Mobile}. Your early answer will oblige.
