| Greensboro N C, June 11th 1862 |
| A meeting of the Directors of
the Piedmont Rail Road Company as held at the Town of Greensboro in the
County of Guilford and State of North Carolina on the 11th day of June
1862 |

Wm Palmer, T T Giles, A Y Stokes and Thos P Atkinson |

| On Motion of J R Edmunds, the Meeting
proceeded to the election by ballot from among themselves of a president
of the Company |
| And thereupon Lewis E Harvie was duly
elected president of the Company |
| On Motion of J R Edmonds the following
resolution was adopted: |
| Resolved that an officer shall be elected
who shall be charged with the duty of Chief Engineer, and Chief of
Construction, with a salary of Twenty five hundred dollars per annum |
| ET Myers was duly elected Chief Engineer and Chief of
Construction |
| On Motion it was resolved that the
President be instructed to apply to the Secretary of War to detail
Edmund T Myers for the duties of Chief Engineer and Chief of
Construction, aforesaid |
