Your are hereby authorized to hire negroes
for the construction of works of defence around and adjacent to the City
of Atlanta. Twenty five dollars per month and customary rations given
and medical attention furnished by the Government. Sick time will not be
deducted if the negroes are well and sound at the time of delivery. Run
away time will be deducted. Owners must furnish blankets. |
Suitable shelters will be provided for the
negroes, and all proper care and attention given to their welfare. |

a resort to impressment. |
