| Yours of the 24th ult. with duplicate
receipts for my signature came duly to hand. I have been unable to
forward the receipts to Jonesboro Ten. owing to the discontinuance of
the mail. Do you wish me to forward the receipts to Benj. E. Green Esq.
wherever he may be found? |
| Yours of the 3d inst. has also been
received. We have succeeded in obtaining negro labor from Planters in
Ga. and refugees from other States. |
| In obedience to your dispatch of the 9th
efforts were made to communicate with Mr. Hazlehurst without success. I
have since learned that he started toward Richmond on the 9th or 10th
inst. |
| The Defences of Atlanta are progressing
satisfactorily. |
