Sir, |
I send Mr. C. F. Williams to attend to
such outside wants as may o?? at the works, and especially to get a
transfer of wheel barrows from Choctaw Bluff. |
It is probable that the Dept. at Richmond
will not recognize any amount for supplies purchased for yourself,
overseers and mechanics. It is important therefore that you keep a
correct memorandum of the time of each and the cost of provisions
consumed, so that we may make the proper allowance in rate of pay, and
cancel all vouchers which may not be allowed at Richmond. |
The negroes engaged by Dr. J. L. Grant in
Miss will hardly be sent to you, as the owners now wish to includes
women & children. Indeed from present indications I do not desire to
increase the force. Employ the negroes in grubbing until further
instruction. Do not increase the outfit for the accommodation of Supt.
overseers, and mechanics until you hear from me again. |
I send by Mr. Williams dft. on Depos at
Montgomery for $1000 which you can use if needed. |
Your Obdt. Svt. |
