| Captain, |
| Your letter of 19th March is but just
before me. I have been absent on duty in the upper parts of the State,
and returned last night. |
| I had expected to send you the receipt of
Col Haynes for the sums named, which I sent to Richmond for his
signature, but these papers seem to have been retained at the Richmond
office. I have not heard of them since they were dispatched for his
signature. |
| If this had been done you would have had
the papers just as they were when I had the pleasure of doing business
with you a year since. |
| Please give my best respects to your
family. In passing thro Atlanta I have failed to meet with you and I
regretted it much. |
| Very truly yours |
| J A Haydon |
