Colonel, |
I have the honor to ask that
the action of enrolling officers, in reference to men liable to
conscription, now actively and efficiently employed on repairs of the
Georgia R. Road, may be suspended while the services of such men are
essential to the work. The majority of these men are experts whose
exemptions as R. Road employees have been revoked. Their removal would
seriously interfere with the progress of repairs. |
I am Colonel |
Very Respectfully |

Retd to Capt L P Grant. Gen Beauregard has no power
over the enrolling officers. This is a matter which belongs exclusively
to the Conscript Bureau. Gov. Browne has alone authority to act. This
application should be made to him. |
