| I regret that under the orders received by
this office in reference to Mr D. Callahan, it will be impossible to let
you have his services on the R. R. work. |
| Mr Callahan has instructions, when he is
relieved from his present work, to send Mr S. R Kneeland, who is both an
engineer and a superintendent of labor, to take charge of that portion
of hands collected under Gen. Orders 86 A&IGO Series 1865 which shall be
assigned to work on the Railroad connection about Atlanta. At present,
under Gen Beauregard's orders Mr Kneeland cannot be spared from the
fortifications. |
