Captain, |
Having an opportunity to send a letter
from this place to Augusta I embrace it to request you to inform me as
to the progress that has been made in the repairs of the Rail Roads in
Georgia. Did you receive the Spikes that were sent from Richmond three
or four weeks ago in charge of a Special Agent? Have you obtained the
requisite amount of R. R. iron and from what sources? Will it be
possible to renew the connexion between Augusta and Macon via Millen? Is
the Central {(of Georgia)} R. Road making
any effort to this end? Inform me as to progress in rebuilding Road from
Milledgeville to Eatonton -- also as to Macon & Western Rail Road. |
You will please to send your report by the
same messenger who carries this to you addressed to Engineer Bureau
Richmond. Put on a postage stamp so that it may be mailed at this, or
other point, where Genl Beauregard's Head Quarters may be when the
messenger returns. I will probably return to Richmond before that time. |
I am Very Respectfully |
