Dear Sir, |
The delay in deciding the question of iron
rails for your Road has arisen from the resignation of Hon. G. W.
Randolph. I have suggested to Col. J. F. Gilmer Chf. of Engineer Bureau
the propriety of entering into contracts with the companies holding the
charters, leaving the iron question to be adjusted hereafter, and
applying a fair proportion of the loan to the grading, bridges, cross
ties &c. |
Will such a contract be acceptable to your
Company? and will you be prepared to prosecute the work? I write under
the assumption that your Company and the Dalton & Jacksonville company
will either prosecute the work jointly, or enter into such arrangements
as will remove any doubt or question as to the application of the loan. |
Very Respectfully |
L. P. Grant |
