Dear Sir, |
Your favor of the 3d inst is at hand. I
have requested Authority from Col. Gilmer Chf. of Engr. Bureau to make a
contract with your Company leaving the question of iron rails to be
adjusted hereafter. The contract to cover the completion of the roadway
and delivery of cross ties to which should be applied such proportion of
the loan as would be fairly due to such completed Roadway. The decision
of the question of iron rails has been delayed on account of the
resignation of Hon. G. W. Randolph. |
Your letter to Col. Gilmer asking if
working tools for grading &c. could be furnished by the Govt. has been
mentioned to me with instructions to learn what tools can be spared from
the Uniontown & Meridian connection. Not having the address of either
Col. Tate, or Col. Pritchard, I have written to Mr Rothrock to address
those gentlemen from Selma. As soon as any decision is made at Richmond,
and instructions forwarded, I will notify you through Mr Rothrock, if
too late to reach you at Montgomery. |
Will a contract, leaving out for the
present the question of iron rails, be satisfactory to your company? |
With much respect I am truly yours |
L. P. Grant |
