Major, |
The Rail Roads deemed of the least
importance to the Govt. and to the public, in the States, are |
The Brunswick & Florida (originally) 59 miles |
Macon & Brunswick 25 miles of track laid |
Warrenton Milledgeville Macon 10 miles track laid
{The Milledgeville RR} |
Of East Tennessee |
The Rogersville Branch 10 miles track laid
{Rogersville & Jefferson RR} |
The Knoxville & Kentucky 10 mile of track laid |
Of Middle Tennessee |
The Tullahoma Manchester & McMinnville 35 miles
{McMinnville & Manchester RR} |
The Winchester & Fayetteville 36 miles
{Winchester & Alabama RR} |
The Sewanee (Coal) R Road (about) 20 miles
{Tennessee Coal & Railroad} |
Of Alabama |
The Uniontown & Newbern (about) 10 miles
North Western Railroad of Alabama} |
The Part of the Cahaba & Marion (about) 10 miles |
|
A Branch of the Mobile & Ohio R Road
commencing in Mississippi and terminating in Ala. Known as the
Gainesville Branch {Mississippi, Gainesville &
Tuscaloosa RR} about 20 miles in length may be classed with the
foregoing The Brunswick & Florida is not wholly within our lines. I
learn that about 40 miles of the rails could now be secured. The want of
facility for transportation will probably preclude the stripping of the
Middle Tennessee Roads. Less prejudice would doubtless be engendered by
not removing the iron beyond the limits of the State in which it may be
taken. |
Very Respectfully |
