A. Shorter Esq. |
Presdt Geo & Ala. R. R. Co. |
Rome Ga. |
|
Dear Sir, |
I am now authorized by the Chief of
Engineer Bureau to enter into contracts with the Companies holding Rail
Road charters between Rome Ga. and Blue Mountain Ala. for the complete
preparation of the Roadway and delivery of cross ties leaving for the
present the question of iron rails. In the same letter from the Chief of
Bureau, the statement is made that the "power of the War Department will
be executed to provide the iron." |
My present duties will call me to Clark
Co. Ala. and will probably employ my time for two weeks. |
I shall enter into a contract with Judge
Walker, Presdt of the Ala. & Ten. River R. R. Co. for the work from Blue
Mountain to the State line during my trip. Please address me on this
subject to Selma Ala. at the earliest moment after the decision, which
you will make on a conference with your Board. |
Very Respectfully |
L. P. Grant |
