| I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of
your letters of he 2nd & 4th inst. The suggestion of Genl Gilmer to
employ an experienced clerk over the Military Age would be
adopted if I did not feel limited in the rate of Pay. Such men now
command from $600 to $1000 per month. |
| I will forward duplicate property returns.
Not having been required to fowd returns in duplicate I was not aware
that such was the rule. |
