| I have the honor to acknowledge rect of
your letter of the 14th, with enclosed letter of Maj. Genl. Gilmer to
Jos. T. Stone appointing him Assistant Military Engineer and directing
him to report to me. Mr Stone had previously reported for duty under
your telegram to Maj Screven of Savannah. |
| He was ordered up the Georgia RRd last
evening and his acknowledgement of the letter of appointment may be
delayed. |
| The Treasury Dft. for $100,000 in response
to your requisition of Sept 9th was recd on Novr 14th. |
| Please expedite, if possible, the Draft
under your last call, as my obligations already cover a considerable
portion of the amount. |
