In obedience to instructions and authority
from Maj. Gen. J. F. Gilmer Chf. of Engr. Bureau approved by the Honble
Secy. of War, also from Gen. Beauregard to the same effect, I hereby
impress one Engine and train of 12 cars to remove the iron rails, spikes
& fastenings from the Road in your charge below Waynesboro. I also
confer on Lieut. H. L. Norfleet 2d Reg. Engr. Troops who will take
charge of the removal of said iron rails &c; the power to impress the
labor now engaged in the repairs of said Rail Road with the tools in the
use of said force giving his receipt to you for the tools. |
