| Dear Sir, |
| I am now authorized to employ you in the
service of the Confederate States as my assistant. I desire you to come
to Atlanta via Macon. Stop at Macon and make such notes of the lattice
Bridge over the Ocmulgee as will enable you to make a drawing of a
similar bridge. The main points I need are the whole height of truss.
The arrangement of chords, size of timber -- horizontal and vertical
measurement from centre to centre of intersections of lattice pieces,
length of spans ----- |
