| Your dispatch of yesterday was recd today.
The contract and mortgage was forwarded on the 5th inst. After waiting
full time to hear from them I telegraphed Col. Gilmer. He replied that
the papers had been recd and immediately laid before the Secy of War,
but no decision made. This is doubtless owing to the meeting of Congress
and the great press of business. I shall notify Judge Walker
{President, Alabama & Tennessee River RR}
as soon as I hear the result. |
