Dear Sir, |
I have the pleasure to acknowledge the
receipt of your letter of this date containing directions for the
preparation of the ground, machinery, wells &c. for the manufacture of
salt by solar evaporation to be located on the State Reservation at the
Salines of Jackson's Creek, Clark County Alabama, with the instructions
and information imparted by you. Should ample power be given by the Hon.
Secy of War, I think the works may bear a state of forwardness which you
desire early in April next. |
If ordered to this duty by Col. Gilmer
Chief or Engineer Bureau, I shall spare no effort to carry out your
views and shall feel it a privilege to be associated in this patriotic
work with one so eminently qualified as yourself. |
I am with great respect |
Very truly yours |
L. P. Grant |
