General, |
In the early part of last year I had the
honor to address you in behalf of my friend Jas. J. Davis who desired an
appointment in the Engineer Troops. He received the appointment of Senr.
2d Lieut. and has served 6 months. At the present time Lieut. Davis is
with me on detached service. He informs me that he will make application
for promotion to a Captaincy. I believe that if promoted, he will fill
the post of Captain efficiently, and with credit to himself and to the
service. I feel the utmost confidence in recommendation his application
to your favorable consideration. |
I am General |
With high respect |
