J R Crew ticket agent at Atlanta (and ??? general ??? to protect the
items of the Georgia {RR} & Atlanta & W Pt
road {Atlanta & West Point RR} at that
place), is hereby authorized & directed to take charge of the Atlanta &
West Pt road, and the stock on it (and lately ordered to be placed on it
by Genl Hood), and to act as Genl Agent and Superintendent of
transportation on said road, so far as the said can be worked for
government, & citizens, giving preference to the former. |

West Point RR rolling stock and personnel were moved at this time to
Augusta and hired out to roads in South Carolina. Only a few pieces of
equipment remained in Atlanta to support the Army and the city.} |
