{From the minutes of the Directors' Meeting of the Alabama & Mississippi Rivers RR, May 13, 1863}

 
Wednesday Morning May 13th 1863
The Convention was called to order by the President
 
   The following Resolution offered by Dr S. J. Arrington was adopted
   Resolved That no member of this convention be allowed more than 15 minutes to occupy the floor in debate on any question that may arise and not allowed to address the convention more than thrice on any one subject.

   The following resolution offered by Dr S. J. Arrington and amended by the Hon F. S. Lyen was after full discussion adopted
   Resolved That in view of the greater cheapness and the advantages of the route by way of McDowells Ldg from Demopolis, crossing the river at or near McDowells, and of the importance of the latter route in a Military point of view, as thereby the report of the Chief Engineer, this convention recommend to the Directory the adoption of the route by McDowells. That in locating said road so as to cross the river at McDowells Bluff, it shall not be sl laid out as to pass through the enclosed premises, embracing a dwelling house of any citizen of the town of Demopolis without the consent of such citizen.
   The following resolution offered by Jno ? Lemar was adopted
Resolved, That the Board of Directors be authorized to adopt measures to procure Locomotives & rolling stock for the road and as the same, may have to be obtained from abroad, the Board is duly authorised to provide for procuring exchange and purchase cotton to be shipped and sold on the termination of the war and the opening of the Blockade or in any other mode they may deem advisable.
