| At a meeting of the Board of Directors
held this day. Present W. P. Bocock President and Directors J W. Lapsley,
W. S. Knox, H. W. Reese & L. F. Whitehead. |

| The President having reported to the Board
a contract made on the 24th inst with Capt. J. W. Stone of the steamer
Marengo for transporting passengers and freight from Demopolis to
McDowell Ldg, of which the following is a copy. |
| "Demopolis Nov 24th 1863. The within
Contract is renewed for six months, and at the pleasure of the Ala &
Miss RRRd Co may be extended to eight months from and after the 15th day
of December 1863, by & between John W. Stone in the place of H. R.
Johnson of the first part and the said Rail Road Company of the second
part, with the following change of rates & additional stipulations |
| viz: The Compensation of said Stone is to
be Ninety Cents (90c) on all full tickets sold by said Rail Road Company
to take passengers from any point on one side of the River to any point
on the other side. Fifty Cents (50c) on all half tickets of a like kind.
Fifty Cents (50c) a head on all soldiers passing either way between
Demopolis & McDowells on Government transportation. Twenty Cents a
hundred for all freights between said points received from the Rail
Road, including Express freights. Ten Cents a hundred on all freights
belonging to the Said Rail Road Company. One Dollar & fifty Cents a head
on all horses. Three Dollars a piece on al buggies. Four Dollars a piece
on all carriages. And Said Stone agrees to make trips as often and at
such times & hours as the business of the Road may require also to do
any towing for the Company at the rate of fifty dollars the round trip
for towing the Company's barge, and to pass free employees of the R Road
having the Superintendents pass. Settlements & payments to be made
monthly. |
