On Motion of Mr Price it was Resolved,
That owing to unavoidable injury to box cars in transporting troops and to the general bad order of cotton offered for shipment, the risks from fire have been greatly increased, therefore, That the rate of freight on cotton be advanced to (3.50) Three 50/100 Dollars from Demopolis to Selma and in proportion between other points. That it be a general rule of transportation of this Company not to receive cotton for freightage unless the same be in good order. That with a view to carry out the last resolution the President be authorised and requested to negotiate with insurance companies.
