Moses Andrew Bledsoe was born in North
Carolina in 1822. He married first wife, Mary Hunter, in 1845. They
had five children before she died prior to 1860. He married second
wife, Donna Holt, in October 1860, and had several additional
children with her. Moses was very wealthy, reporting Real Estate
worth of $18,000 and Personal Estate of $27,500 in 1860. He was very
active in public affairs, State Representative, State Senator,
lawyer, Chairman of the State Insane Asylum, President of the State
Board of Prisons, and other positions. During the war, he was an
Assistant Quartermaster of North Carolina State Troops. He was
Transportation Agent at Raleigh for many months, but left the job
because his state offices and his political aspirations consumed his
time. |
Moses died in 1905 and Donna in
1910, both in North Carolina. |
M. A. was a State of North
