Biography of Henry B. Warren

Compiled by the National Archivists before the microfilming of the Civil War records.

Entries in blue are references and my additions.

Henry B. Warren was a surprisingly common name at the time of his birth. Assuming he was born about 1838, there are at least 6 Henry B. Warren's with birth years of 1835-1840, each in a different state. Warren is called "a young gentleman," acted as a Quartermaster Major, acted as an Assistant Engineer, and tried to get a commission in an artillery unit. There is no enlistment card for him; we do not know his age; and we do not know his home state. At present, I have not been able to locate any likely candidate for him before or after the war.
The 1865 parole listing shows him as a Captain and AQM. The June 1864 printed list of all Quartermasters does not list him.
There are no records indicating any particular RR service for the Army, but he is included here for completeness of the record.
