| The offices and shops for both the Orange & Alexandria RR and the Alexandria, Loudoun & Hampshire RR were in Alexandria. Gen. Lee tried to get the rolling stock of the AL&H RR run over to the O&A RR before the Union captured the city. He was not successful, but Capt. Sharp pulled some of the rolling stock from Leesburg to the Manassas Gap RR. The line headed almost due north from Alexandria is the Alexandria & Washington RR. |
