North Carolina Shops

Upon completion of the track of the road and the commencement of operations, in 1854, the North Carolina RR ordered the construction of its shops. The buildings below were constructed in the next three years and remained in use until 1918. (Derived from Stokes, Company Shops, The Town Built By A Railroad, 1981)
