To His Excellency Governor Brown
 
   The salt train with engine and 14 cars will leave here tomorrow morning and run through to Macon of course Mr Scott {President, Macon & Western RR} has to regulate the time on his road. I expect the train to be in Atlanta on Monday evening. Please order a man well acquainted with the roads above {I take this to mean "above Atlanta" and would include the Western & Atlantic RR, the East Tennessee & Georgia RR and the East Tennessee & Virginia RR, since the source of the salt was Saltville, on the Virginia & Tennessee RR} to go with our runner and have arrangements made through Major Rowland to feed the runner and four men this company begs to be allowed to purchase and bring back forty bushels salt for its own use. Please let me know by telegraph. Direct the Savannah office that you have receive this.
