Little Rock July 8th 1862

Genl. A. Rust,
DuVall's Bluff

The cars have just left, with 30 hands. Since they left, I ascertained that the gauge of {Memphis & Little Rock} railroad differs from any on the continent. Machines would have to be made for it, or the gauge altered before the enemy can use it. It will be wholly unnecessary therefore, to destroy any part of the road except the bridges. ***
